These classes are designed for the people and dogs to go to the next step.
At the Beginners day we talk about managing and understanding you dog. We also check what instinct and desire that your dog has. Its a great Taster with a lot of information to help with behavior issues.
Now at the Intermediate Day we move on to training you to work with your dogs instinct, at this class we quite often have to get the handlers up to speed with what is going on, as your dog already knows what he wants to do. Most times he will now do it on his own with you along for the ride. This means that we need to get you up to speed quick. As we go through the basics of working with stock and dogs you will learn what we are trying to achieve. As after all we are quite often entering a world that is quite different for most people. It’s all about working your dog on stock in a calm and confident manner.
I keep these early classes quite small as this enables dog’s and handlers to get as much out of the day as possible, both in time on stock and with me. I get a lot of people and dogs to working on there own in a small area with great foundations to move on and enjoy working with your dog. As this is often a lot to take in at once I do recommend doing a couple of Intermediate classes over time. Mixed with good practice sessions as it is time on stock that will help you and your dog to grow and become confident with what you are doing.
This Class will involve:
A Catch up after the Beginners Day.
A Theory talk with a white board session.
Back into the round yard. With me.
A walk out in the Paddock with me as I work a dog.
It will depend on you and your dogs ability as to how far we get on this day. The further the better for your growth and understanding.
My second DVD, The Untold Secret of Starting Working Dogs, is a great tool for this day. Both before to give you a head start or after for a great refresher.
As with all dog training it’s all about getting the basics right and being consistent with your training methods.

The day will be filled with:
* A detailed discussion about working sheep with dogs and handling stock generally. Learn all the whys and hows and get your questions answered.
* We will go for a walk with the sheep and one of my dogs so you can visually understand what we are wanting to achieve. Then we will refresh you and your dog’s memory of the round yard and when you are ready we will get you out into a larger working area.
