Hello. I’m Eric
I grew up on a mixed sheep and cattle property just north of Inverell in NSW Australia. I have always lived on farms, worked with stock and trained working dogs all over Australia and in Canada. I trained as a shearer in the early nineties and worked as a shearer for many years. It was while working as a shearer that I really started to appreciate how useful a well trained and bred dog could be. In 1999, I took up a job as a stock manager on a large property at Bendemeer, NSW. The property was located on the western side of the tablelands so the country was quite steep and wintered very hard. So you needed good dogs and stock skills to get clean musters out of paddocks that were big very rough and steep. This position required me to care for 1000 head of cattle and 12000 sheep. The only way to manage all these animals was to have a great team of working dogs.
In my spare time I enjoy trialing – sheep both paddock, yard, utility and cattle. I have breed a great team of working dogs, mainly border collies to take to the trials. Over the past years, I have been training a fantastic group of dog handlers throughout the Gold Coast and Brisbane to work their dogs on sheep and compete at trials. I an now running training sessions to fulfill the needs of dog owners. In these clinics I work with people who want to know more about working their dogs on stock weather as a interest , part of there work or to learn how to trail. I run clinics both here at Beaudesert and at other locations around Australia.
I feel that people should be able to live happily with there Border Collies , Kelpies, or any other breed with working ancestors in most environments including the city. It’s having a good understanding about the way these dogs think and act that will enable these dog to live a happy and contented life in most environments . Working dogs can be very loyal companions. If they have the basics right. It is a shame that so many Border Collies, Kelpies, Blue Heelers, etc are abandoned, through lack of knowledge and a basic understanding. It is manily because their is a lot of confusion about how to manage their energy. With the right help owners can experience these amazing dogs. I have a range of techniques to help dog owners to understand and live with their Border Collies,Kelpies and Cattle Dogs with joy and comfort .This knowlege will help you to have a rewarding life with a real mate.
